The alternator is a rotating electric machine, converting mechanical energy from the rotor drive machines for electric energy in the form of alternating current. It is an AC electric generator.

E125_S001 Connect the multimeter to the alternator as the set voltrmetr with measuring AC voltage.
E125_S002 When turning the knob clockwise multimeter records the generated voltage, whose magnitude is proportional to the speed of rotation.
E125_S003 Alternator connected to the oscilloscope.
E125_S004 When turning the knob on the oscilloscope, we can observe the voltage.
E125_S005 Connect the oscilloscope to another alternator.
E125_S006 When turning the knob on the oscilloscope, we can better observe the voltage.

Physical interpretation+

Alternators are typically synchronous machines. Alternators generate electricity generators in the same way as DC electric current, especially when changing magnetic field around the coil. The coil is then induced electric current. Usually rotates the rotary magnet - firmly positioned inside the rotor windings on iron cores - stator. Move the rotor caused by the mechanical energy is generated by electric current. The rotating magnetic field induces in the coil winding alternating electric current.
