Dynamo is a rotary electrical machine, converting mechanical energy from the rotor to electric energy in the form of direct electric current. It is a DC electric generator.

Experiment instructions+

E092_S001 Plug devices in accordance with this picture. Set the voltage on multimeter and range up to 20V (depending on the used generator).
E092_S002 When turning the knob clockwise multimeter records the generated voltage, whose magnitude is proportional to the speed of rotation.
E092_S003 When turning in the opposite direction, multimeter records a negative voltage, so current flows through a circuit in the opposite direction.

The generator is a rotary engine for the conversion of mechanical energy into electrical energy. The dynamo generates DC current.

Physical interpretation+

Dynamo action is also based on electromagnetic induction. The excitation current in the stator windings in the stator produces a magnetic flux. The winding rotor during its rotation in the magnetic field induces an alternating voltage which is a commutator mounted on the rotor shaft, converted to DC voltage. From the DC commutator brushes away the terminal machine is taken where necessary electric current.
